1. Nature of these Terms
1.1 Your licence to use 8PWD 2026 is granted through the App Store and is governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Apple Standard EULA"). These Terms supplement that agreement in respect of matters specific to 8PWD 2026; they do not replace it.
1.2 If these Terms conflict with the Apple Standard EULA, the Apple Standard EULA prevails to the extent of the conflict.
1.3 You must accept these Terms to use 8PWD 2026, whether or not you have paid for it. If you do not agree, please delete the application.
1.4 "8PWD 2026" is one independent year edition within the 8PWD product family. The licence you obtain (including a lifetime purchase) covers this edition only. Any future year edition (for example "8PWD 2030") is a separate application that must be obtained separately; its release does not affect your continued use of this edition. New editions will remain able to import backup files created by this one.
2. Fully offline
2.1 8PWD 2026 contains no networking code of its own. It connects to no server (we operate none), requires no account, does not sync, and uploads nothing. The only network activity is purchasing, restoring purchases and checking subscription status, performed by Apple's StoreKit system framework (see Section 4); we receive none of that data.
2.2 Your accounts, passwords, two-factor secrets and related data are stored only on your device and in any backup files you choose to export. MNV LIMITED does not receive, transmit, store or access any of your 8PWD 2026 data, and has no means of obtaining it.
3. Encryption key, master password and recovery phrase (important)
3.1 8PWD 2026 encrypts your vault with AES-256-GCM. On first use the key is generated at random by the application on your device and is stored only in that device's system Keychain; opening the vault requires confirming your identity with Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode. Until you set a master password, this key never leaves that device: after a device change, erase or reinstall, the vault on that device can only be restored from a backup file you exported yourself.
3.2 You may at any time — and the application will prompt you at moments such as export and backup — set a master password and receive the 12-word recovery phrase generated with it. Once set, either the master password or the recovery phrase opens your vault on any device. You alone hold both.
3.3 MNV LIMITED holds no copy of your encryption key, master password or recovery phrase, maintains no backdoor, master key or key escrow, and has no technical means of bypassing this encryption.
3.4 If you lose every way of opening the vault — the device itself while no master password is set, or both the master password and the recovery phrase once set — and have no usable backup, your data cannot be recovered, permanently. This is not a policy choice but a consequence of the encryption design. No one, including MNV LIMITED, Apple, or any technician we might engage, can restore it for you. You agree that setting and safeguarding your master password and recovery phrase, exporting backups regularly, and verifying that those backups work, are your responsibility, and that MNV LIMITED bears no liability for any data loss arising from a lost device, master password, recovery phrase or backup.
4. Free plan and 8PWD 2026 Pro
4.1 8PWD 2026 is free to use; the free plan stores up to 10 password records. Folders, tags, two-factor codes and text blocks do not count towards that limit.
4.2 "8PWD 2026 Pro" removes the limit and can be obtained in three ways: a monthly auto-renewing subscription, a yearly auto-renewing subscription, or a one-time Lifetime purchase that never expires. The price is the one shown in the App Store for your region; any free trial on a subscription is stated clearly before purchase.
4.3 Subscriptions: payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation, and the subscription renews and is charged at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends in Settings › Apple ID › Subscriptions. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you subscribe. Lifetime: paid once, never renews, tied to the Apple ID used at purchase, and recoverable on other devices with Restore purchases.
4.4 Payment is processed by Apple: billing, invoices, refunds and cancellation follow Apple's terms. MNV LIMITED does not receive your payment details and cannot issue refunds on Apple's behalf.
4.5 Expiry or cancellation never deletes data. If you then hold more records than the free limit, the vault becomes read-only: you can still view, search, copy and AutoFill every record, but cannot add, import or restore from the trash until you are under the limit again or hold Pro again.
4.6 We may change the free limit or prices. A price change never affects a period you have already paid for, nor a Lifetime purchase already made, and is announced in advance under Apple's rules.
5. No security guarantee
5.1 8PWD 2026 is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including without limitation warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
5.2 We use widely accepted standard cryptographic algorithms (listed in the in-app "Encryption & export compliance" page), but we do not warrant that the application, your device or your data cannot be compromised. No information security is absolute. In particular, we accept no liability for: compromise, jailbreaking or malware on your device; vulnerabilities in the operating system or third-party components; weak passwords you choose; or backup files you store in insecure locations.
6. Limitation of liability
6.1 To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, MNV LIMITED shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, punitive or consequential damages, including without limitation loss of data, loss of profits or business interruption, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
6.2 Our aggregate liability is capped as provided in the Apple Standard EULA.
6.3 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Your rights under the Hong Kong Control of Exemption Clauses Ordinance (Cap. 71) and other applicable consumer protection laws are unaffected.
7. Encryption and export control
7.1 8PWD 2026 contains encryption functionality, implemented entirely with published standard algorithms. For the purposes of the US Export Administration Regulations, the application is self-classified as ECCN 5D992.c under Note 3 to Category 5 Part 2 (the mass market note) and requires no export licence. Full details are in the in-app "Encryption & export compliance" page.
7.2 You agree to comply with all applicable export control laws and confirm that you are not located in an embargoed or sanctioned country or region, and are not on any restricted party list.
8. Governing law and disputes
8.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Except as provided in Section 9, the parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Hong Kong courts.
9. Addendum for United States residents (applies only to users in the US)
9.1 Agreement to arbitrate. You and MNV LIMITED agree that any dispute arising out of these Terms or 8PWD 2026 shall be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, with the arbitration taking place in the county where you reside. To the extent the AAA rules allow, the proceeding may be decided on documents or held by telephone or video, so you do not need to travel.
9.2 Fees. MNV LIMITED will pay any AAA filing, administration and arbitrator fees that exceed what it would cost you to file the same claim in your local court, except for claims brought in bad faith or for harassment.
9.3 Class action waiver. You and MNV LIMITED each waive any right to bring claims as a class, collective, consolidated or representative action. The arbitrator may award relief only to the individual party seeking it.
9.4 Small claims exception. Either party may elect to bring a qualifying dispute in small claims court instead, and this Addendum will not apply to it.
9.5 Right to opt out. You may opt out of Sections 9.1 to 9.3 within 30 days of first accepting these Terms by emailing support@8pwd.com with the subject line "Arbitration Opt-Out". Opting out does not affect the rest of these Terms or your use of 8PWD 2026.
9.6 Severability. If the class action waiver in Section 9.3 is held unenforceable, then Section 9 does not apply in its entirety and disputes proceed under Section 8.
10. Changes
10.1 We may update these Terms. Where changes are material, the application will ask you to accept them again before you continue.
