The same short explainers the app shows at the top of each page, for anyone who hasn't installed it yet. No marketing — what a thing is, how to do it, and what to watch out for.
How to turn on two-step verification
Every website turns it on in its own settings; an authenticator app only stores the code generator the site hands you. Here is the path for the fourteen services people ask about most, and the three steps inside 8PWD.
Passkeys, in plain language
Nothing to type, nothing to leak, nothing to phish. Websites create the passkey for you; a password manager just keeps it safe and signs you in. 8PWD stores passkeys on the device, never in a cloud.
Fill cards and forms from the keyboard
Checkout forms and sign-up forms ask for the same twenty things every time. Store them once; at the form, tap the key icon above the keyboard, pick 8PWD, pick the field.
The security check-up
One tap re-scans every password on this device against a million leaked passwords, looks for weak, reused and out-of-date ones, checks two-step verification and passkeys — and tells you what to fix first. Nothing leaves the device.
Account deletion guide
Every account you don't use is a password that can still leak. This guide shows where each site hides its delete button, how hard it is, and what to write when there is no button. 8PWD only shows the way — it cannot delete accounts for you, and this is not legal advice.
What is the right to be forgotten?
In many places you can legally require a company to delete the personal data it holds about you. Here is what that covers, where it applies, and how 8PWD helps you use it.
Your data is always yours
If 8PWD disappeared tomorrow you would lose nothing. Here is why — the file format, the export paths and a script you can read in five minutes — and how to take everything with you.
How to prove 8PWD is offline
“No networking code of its own” is the claim everything else rests on. You don't have to trust us: iOS gives you checks you can run yourself, and most apps would fail them.
Longer reads
A password manager you pay for once
Most password managers rent you access to your own passwords. 8PWD takes the older model: a free plan that is complete, one payment for the rest, and a backup file you can read without us.
Two-factor codes, kept with the password, generated on your device
A one-time code is only as safe as the secret behind it. 8PWD keeps that secret in the same encrypted vault as the password, offline, and fills the code for you when you sign in.
Switching from Apple Passwords
Apple's Passwords app is good, free and already on your phone. Switch only if the differences below matter to you — and know that the two can run side by side.
A password checklist you can finish in an evening
October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month. You do not need a month — ten steps, roughly one evening, in order of how much each one protects.
The text on this page is the text 8PWD 3.1 shows on screen, in this language; it is generated from the app's own strings so the two cannot drift apart.
