Version 3.1 (32)

Released: 2026-10-08 · Platforms: iPhone · iPad · Mac

  • A new Home tab: your security grade, one “next step” card that changes as you fix things, how many of the 12 features you've tried, every feature as a card (Store · Use · Protect) and your recent accounts. The side drawers are gone — everything that lived there is on Home, and the Passwords tab has a row of module shortcuts. Existing custom tab bars just get Home added at the front.
  • Security score rebuilt: leaked passwords are now their own item with the highest weight (40), then weak 20, reused 20, out of date 10, no two‑step verification 10 — and the last one only counts websites that actually support it. Accounts you sign in to with a passkey are not penalised. Every item says “Checked on this device · no internet”, in the app and in the PDF report. Grades A–J keep the same thresholds, so your number may move; the report explains why.
  • Security check‑up: one tap re‑scans everything with a short progress ritual, compares with last time, keeps a history you can scroll, and awards eight badges (Leak‑free, No repeats, Two‑step everywhere, Passkey pioneer, Fixer, On a streak…). Share the result as an image — it never includes account names.
  • Account deletion guide: where every site hides its delete button, with a difficulty rating, instructions in your language (2,100+ sites from JustDeleteMe, translated into all 13 languages), a one‑tap link to that site's page, and ready‑made request letters (GDPR, CCPA, general). Each account's page shows “How to delete this account” when the site is known. A new “What is the right to be forgotten?” explainer sits with the legal pages. 8PWD only shows the way; it doesn't delete accounts for you.
  • Passkeys, explained where you need it: a short strip at the top of the Passkeys page with three steps and a button to turn on AutoFill, a list of your sites that already support passkeys with “Go” to their setup page (Passkeys Directory, 400 sites), and a hint on each matching account. Same style of strip on 2FA codes, Bank cards, Identities, Usage, Check‑up and the deletion guide — collapse any of them to a small “?” and it stays collapsed.
  • Identities now hold several emails, phones, addresses and documents each, with labels (Work / Home / Old passport…). Documents have a type, issuing country, issue and expiry dates; anything expiring within 90 days is flagged. All of them fill from the keyboard.
  • Brand icons: 3,400+ website logos bundled offline (Simple Icons) with a category symbol as fallback and your initials as the last resort. Tap an account's icon to pick another brand or symbol for free; Pro can use an emoji or a photo. Accounts are grouped by category (Finance, Shopping, Social…) in Groups, and finance accounts get the right fields (account number, IBAN…) at the top of “Add field”. Field names also come preset for your country (HKID, My Number, Steuer‑ID, CPF…).
  • Move or merge to another device: send your whole vault by AirDrop as one encrypted file with a 6‑digit code; the other device shows a merge wizard — identical records are skipped, same account with a different password lets you keep the newer one (the other goes into password history), everything else is added. Not a sync: one file, one time, no server.
  • Usage: a new module shows what you actually used in the last 7 / 30 / 90 days, your most‑used accounts and the ones untouched for 90 days (candidates to delete). Counted on this device only.
  • Trust pages: “How to prove 8PWD is offline” (no networking code, nothing in iOS App Privacy Report, StoreKit is the only exception, and how to check yourself) and “Your data is always yours” (universal CSV export, open .8pwd format, read‑only instead of deletion if you stop paying). Backups can now be verified in the app — size, SHA‑256 fingerprint, what's inside, and the difference from this device — and the Backups card shows a red dot when a backup is overdue. The app also ships a privacy manifest.
  • Pro & trial: the first‑launch offer is now one page and appears only after your first action, not at the door. Trial users see “day N of 7” on Home and in Me, a reminder a day before it ends (on by default, local), and “cancel any time — nothing is charged” under the price. Lifetime says it plainly: one purchase, up to 6 family members, never passes through a server. A weekly card shows how many times 8PWD typed for you; free users can try custom icons three times; the free limit warns gently at 8 of 10, and records above the limit are shown as read‑only — never deleted.
  • Fixes: PDF reports, password books, the recovery sheet and the emergency kit now mirror correctly in Arabic and Hebrew; switching between a right‑to‑left and a left‑to‑right language rebuilds the layout immediately; the search box is always visible in groups; AutoFill shows your list under a translucent lock instead of a floating card and skips Face ID for 10 minutes after a successful check (adjustable; the main app unlock gives 5); the two‑step guide list has smaller icons and separate Microsoft personal vs. work/school instructions; Settings is now “Me”, regrouped into six sections with a status card on top; Easy mode gains Bank cards; the first‑launch tour's third screen and the What's New page show the 12‑feature map.
  • Mac: version 3.1 includes everything above.

Version 3.0 (31)

Released: 2026-10-08 · Platforms: iPhone · iPad · Mac

  • Bank cards: a new module next to Wi‑Fi. Scan a card with the camera, see the brand and a validity check as you type, get an expiry warning on the Security page, keep the billing address — and fill number, expiry and security code straight from the keyboard. Import cards from 1Password or Bitwarden. Cards count toward the free 10, like passwords.
  • Passkeys: 8PWD can now create and use passkeys for websites and apps (iOS 18 / macOS 15). The private key is generated and stays on this device, encrypted like a password; it goes into a backup only when you tick “Include passkeys”, which turns on encryption for that file. A single switch under Settings › Vault › Passkeys turns the feature off.
  • Identities: save your name, email, phone, address, company, birthday and ID numbers once, then fill sign‑up and checkout forms field by field from the AutoFill keyboard menu. Import identities from 1Password or Bitwarden.
  • Leaked‑password check, offline: the one million most common breached passwords (source: Have I Been Pwned) ship inside the app. A leaked password shows “Leaked” in red in the strength meter, gets its own section on the Security page and counts as weak. No password or hash ever leaves your device.
  • Two‑step verification coverage: the Security page now lists accounts whose website supports authenticator codes but has none linked in 8PWD (2FA Directory data plus built‑in guides for Google, Microsoft, Amazon and others), with step‑by‑step instructions. “Change password” opens the site’s change‑password page and offers a fresh password when you come back; a wizard walks through weak and reused passwords one by one.
  • Emergency Kit: a one‑page PDF for a trusted person — recovery phrase (optional), a blank for the master password, where your backups are and three steps to restore. Under Settings › Security and on the encryption pages.
  • Share a whole group, encrypted: pick “Share this group securely” in a group’s menu, or select several accounts, and send one .8pwdshare file by AirDrop; the recipient previews the list, ticks what to keep and can put it into a group of the same name. Same one‑time 6‑digit code.
  • Three more languages: Arabic and Hebrew with full right‑to‑left layout, and Russian — 13 in total.
  • 2FA codes in the Dynamic Island and on the Lock Screen (iPhone): after you copy a code, a Live Activity shows the issuer, the code and the countdown until it expires. Mac gets the Home Screen widget as a desktop widget.
  • Smaller things: Settings has a search box; gentle reminders a day after first launch if the vault is still nearly empty or AutoFill is off (each once, can be turned off); one‑tap transfer from Apple Passwords sits first in Import; groups are one level deep; the search bar stays visible; an optional grace window skips Face ID right after unlocking the app; lists can order by recent use; password history per field; redeem offer codes in the app; the Pro page starts with the free trial and shows the monthly equivalent.
  • Mac: version 3.0 includes everything above (Mac goes from 2.0 straight to 3.0).

Version 2.0 (30)

Released: 2026-10-06 · Platforms: iPhone · iPad

  • AutoFill 2.0 (iPhone / iPad): the picker is redesigned — the site at the top, the best matches as cards, and every other account one tap away. When several accounts fit one site you choose; the one you picked last time is remembered for that site.
  • Verification codes fill themselves: 2FA codes linked to an account now appear in the keyboard’s AutoFill suggestions and in the picker, with a countdown. Any field — PIN, recovery code, card number — can be inserted into any text box from the keyboard.
  • Title with a real Edit button and a large editing view: the account name is shown big with “Edit” next to it; tapping any field name or value opens a full-width editor with quick picks — no more squinting into a tiny box.
  • Field management: hide fields you don’t need (they stay in your backups and can be restored) or delete them for good. A Field library under Settings › Vault decides which names appear in “+ Field”, in any order you like.
  • Share one record encrypted: pick “Share encrypted” on an account and send it by AirDrop, Messages or Mail as a .8pwdshare file. It is AES-256 encrypted on your device with a one-time 6-digit code you tell the recipient; they open it in 8PWD. No server, ever.
  • Travel mode (off by default): choose folders or members to hide; while it is on they vanish from lists, search, AutoFill, widgets and Quick Access. Turning it off asks for Face ID / Touch ID or your passcode.
  • Mac: Quick Access shows the current 2FA code with its countdown right in the results; copy it with ⌥⏎ as before. Mac goes straight from 0.0.2 to 2.0 and includes everything from 1.1: Easy text sizes, color schemes, anti-theft encryption, recovery phrase, redesigned Pro page and the lock-screen fix.
  • Tapping a plan on the App Store product page opens that plan directly; a rating card on the “Me” page replaces guesswork; the Security report title no longer gets cut off; Apple Passwords users get a two-step import hint on first launch.
  • Liquid Glass surfaces on iOS 26 / macOS 26 for the AutoFill picker, editing view and cards, with the familiar look on older systems.

Version 1.1 (28)

Released: 2026-09-29 · Platforms: iPhone · iPad

  • Easy Mode (iPhone): large text, fewer steps. Save, find and print passwords with big buttons; Language, Standard and More sit right under the title, Import and Export at the bottom. Choose it on first launch or in Settings › Appearance › Easy Mode / Standard.
  • Color schemes (Pro): eleven of them — Amber, Navy, Crimson, Emerald, Gilt, Graphite, Violet, Azure, Teal, Rose and Mocha. Tap one to see the whole app in that color before you decide. Settings › Appearance › Color Scheme.
  • Text size: a list of sizes under Settings › Appearance that resizes the whole app, with its own range for Easy Mode. (On Mac, text size follows System Settings › Displays.)
  • Anti-theft encryption: the former Data encryption setting, renamed for what it does. Turn it on and the vault opens only with your master password or Face ID / Touch ID — a stolen phone with a known passcode still can't open it. It can be turned off again.
  • Recovery phrase: print it or save it as a PDF from the same page — when you turn on anti-theft encryption, and later under Anti-theft encryption › View recovery phrase.
  • The Pro page is four short steps instead of one long scroll: what you get, every feature, free vs Pro, then the plans — where the free version is a plan card of its own. Easy Mode gets a one-screen version.
  • Biometric unlock is off by default: a new install opens straight into the vault, protected by your device's own lock. Turn it on under Security, where auto-lock now also offers 30 minutes and 1, 2, 4 or 8 hours.
  • Export: plain file by default; turn on “Encrypt this backup” to add a password. Top bar buttons now say what they are — Menu, Add, Tools. “What's New” no longer pops up after an update; a small dot on its tile tells you there is something to read.
  • Fixed: printing a single password did nothing on some printers; the sort/filter row and the eye button had different heights on iPhone 18 Pro; leaving an unsaved password by swiping back skipped the confirmation; a “Done” button above the keyboard.
  • Also: “Pro features at a glance” under Settings › 8PWD 2026 Pro, for everyone; Data location & erase is now Factory reset; long field values wrap; saving a password returns you to the list; Easy Mode gets custom fields, a visible scroll bar and equal-size buttons.
  • iPad and Mac: the first-launch screens and the Pro page use two columns on wide screens; lists, the sidebar and the reports refresh the moment you save; Mac forms share one grouped style, the table shows row lines and can delete, move or favourite several rows at once, the ribbon gains a Settings tab and the menu bar a Settings menu; the unlock screen accepts clicks again after locking.
  • Also: no more flash of the master-password box on first launch; “Long unchanged” is adjustable from 1 month to 5 years and drives the score, the smart group and the reports; typing a password warns you if another account already uses it; the feature tour no longer pops up by itself; a member with no passwords now says so instead of showing an empty vault; several settings groups and items were renamed (Reports is now Security report).
  • Requires iOS 18 / macOS 15 or later.

Version 1.0 (24)

Not released on its own — included in 1.1 · Platforms: iPhone · iPad

  • Start in ten seconds. A new first launch: three screens, one tap to agree, and your vault is ready — encrypted with a key that never leaves this device, unlocked with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode.
  • Master password when you need it. Set it later from Export, Backup or Settings › Encryption; it also becomes your backup password. Until then, nothing to memorise.
  • 8PWD 2026 Pro, redesigned. Pay once and keep it forever — no renewals, Family Sharing, one purchase for iPhone, iPad and Mac. Yearly with a free trial and monthly are still there.
  • A new welcome page and a shareable certificate card after you upgrade.
  • Language and Appearance are now the first items in the drawer and in Settings; the app follows your device language out of the box.
  • New icon with a vault door, a refined start page with Import / Scan / Add cards, and a brand splash on launch.
  • Fixes on Mac: Touch ID always prompts before unlocking; scanning 2FA and Wi‑Fi QR codes no longer crashes; windows are visible in screenshots by default.

Version 0.0.2 (23)

Released: 2026-09-23 · Platforms: iPhone · iPad · Mac

  • 8PWD 2026 now runs natively on iPad and Mac: sidebar, two-column lists, a sortable table with an inspector on Mac, keyboard shortcuts, drag and drop, and multiple windows. One purchase covers all three.
  • Eight new interface languages: Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil) and Italian. The app follows your device language; legal texts in these languages are translations — the English version prevails.
  • Language follows your device by default; you can still pin the app to English or Traditional Chinese in Settings › Language.
  • Getting Started checklist: turn on AutoFill, import, Face ID / Touch ID, first 2FA code, first backup — with progress.
  • Rate & Share: leave a review on the App Store, share the store link or a card with a QR code, invite family via Members.
  • Local reminders: a nudge when the vault has not been exported for 30 days, and a monthly security summary. Computed on device, no network.
  • Home Screen quick actions (New password, Scan 2FA, Search) and Spotlight search of account names — names only, never secrets.
  • More import templates: LastPass, Dashlane, NordPass, Proton Pass and Firefox CSV exports, and Enpass JSON.
  • Search understands Pinyin (full and initials) and ignores accents and full-width characters.
  • 2FA widget for Home Screen and Lock Screen with a privacy mode that shows only the name until you tap.
  • New app icon variants for iOS 18 dark and tinted Home Screens.
  • 'Why no sync' explains the offline design and walks you through moving your vault between devices with an .8pwd file.
  • Fixed: system permission prompts were shown in Simplified Chinese for every language; English counts now use proper singular and plural forms.

Version 0.0.1 (20)

Released: 2026-09-11 · Platforms: iPhone

  • First public release on the App Store for iPhone: offline vault, AutoFill, 2FA codes, Wi-Fi QR codes, members, A–J security grade, encrypted .8pwd backups, free up to 10 passwords with 8PWD 2026 Pro to remove the limit.
